Quick answer

A small WordPress website in Pakistan can cost under Rs. 10,000 at the start if you build it yourself. WordPress is free. You pay Rs. 4,200 for a two-year .pk domain from PKNIC and about Rs. 5,490 a year for basic hosting. Premium tools such as Astra Pro ($99 in year one) are optional.

Key takeaways

  • • WordPress software is free; the main fixed costs are the domain and hosting.
  • • PKNIC charges Rs. 2,100 a year for a .pk domain, billed two years at a time.
  • • HosterPK's basic WordPress plan costs Rs. 5,490 a year for one site.
  • • Free Astra, the block editor and free Elementor cover most small business sites.
  • • SSL from Let's Encrypt and backups with UpdraftPlus cost nothing.
  • • Plan for uneven bills: the domain renews every second year.

How much does a WordPress website cost in Pakistan? It's the first money question in almost every WordPress class we teach, and the honest answer is smaller than most people expect. A simple business site can run for under Rs. 10,000 in its first year if you build it yourself, because the software is free and you mainly pay for a domain and hosting.

The trouble is that most price lists online lump everything together. This guide breaks the WordPress website cost into its real parts instead. We'll cost one example business line by line, using prices checked on official pages in October 2026.

Here's what this walkthrough covers:

  • Which parts of a WordPress site are free and which ones cost money every year
  • The current .pk domain price and what local WordPress hosting in Pakistan charges
  • When paying for Astra Pro or Elementor Pro is worth it, and when it isn't
  • How the bill changes once a business wants to sell online with WooCommerce
  • A realistic build timeline you can use to plan your own project

What Does a WordPress Website Cost in Pakistan?

Think of the WordPress website cost as four separate bills. Two of them are fixed and recurring: the domain name and the hosting. One is optional: premium themes and plugins. The last one is labor, which is either your own time or a developer's fee.

The software itself costs nothing. WordPress is open source and released under the GPL (version 2 or later), according to WordPress.org. The same page says WordPress runs more than 43% of all sites on the web. That huge user base is the reason free themes, free plugins and tutorials are so easy to find.

So when a developer quotes, say, Rs. 80,000 for "a WordPress website," most of that figure is labor and margin. The same pattern holds for website development cost in Pakistan in general, whatever the platform. Knowing the fixed part of the WordPress website cost helps you judge any quote, whether you're the client or the freelancer writing it.

WordPress website cost in Pakistan: price tiles for domain, hosting, theme, builder and SSL
The six price points behind a small WordPress site, checked in October 2026.

The Example Business: A Small Clinic in Abbottabad

To keep the numbers concrete, we'll use an example. Picture a two-dentist clinic on Mansehra Road. The owner wants a clean site with six pages: Home, About, Services, Doctors, Gallery and Contact. Patients should be able to call, send a WhatsApp message or fill in a simple appointment form.

There is no online payment and no shop. The clinic will add a short blog post once a month about dental care. This is the most common type of small business website in Pakistan, so its WordPress website cost makes a useful baseline.

We'll price two versions. The lean version uses only free software. The upgraded version adds a premium theme add-on and a page builder license. In both cases, a student or the owner does the build.

Line 1: The Domain Name

Local customers trust a .pk address, and our clinic wants one. Domains ending in .pk are managed by PKNIC, the national registry. Its official site lists a fee of Rs. 2,100 per year for registrants in Pakistan. That rate took effect on August 1, 2026, when it rose from Rs. 1,800.

There's a catch that surprises first-time buyers. PKNIC bills in two-year periods, so the minimum payment at the start is Rs. 4,200. You can also pay for up to 10 years in one go.

Many hosting companies resell .pk domains at their own price, which is higher than the registry fee. Before you pay a reseller, check two things:

  1. Whether the price covers one year or two years.
  2. Whether the renewal price is the same as the first payment.

A .com address is a reasonable choice if the business serves clients outside Pakistan. For a clinic whose patients live within 20 kilometers, .pk or .com.pk is the better fit.

Line 2: WordPress Hosting in Pakistan

Hosting is the server space where your site's files and database live, and it's the largest fixed line in the yearly WordPress website cost. For a six-page clinic site, a basic shared plan is enough. Paying for a VPS at this stage would be wasted money.

As one local example, HosterPK's WordPress hosting page lists its WordPress I plan at Rs. 5,490 a year for one site and 1,000 MB of disk space. Its WordPress II plan costs Rs. 7,110 a year and allows three sites with 2,000 MB. We aren't recommending a specific company here. Compare at least two or three local hosts before you buy.

What to Check Before You Pay for Hosting

Price alone tells you very little. Ask the host these questions, or look for the answers on its plan page:

  • Does the server run PHP 8.3 or newer? WordPress.org recommends PHP 8.3+, plus MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.11+.
  • Is a free SSL certificate included and renewed automatically?
  • Can you restore a backup yourself from the control panel?
  • Is support available on WhatsApp or phone during Pakistani office hours?
  • What does the plan cost at renewal, not just in year one?

A clinic site with a few dozen photos will use well under 1,000 MB if you compress images before uploading. That's why the smallest plan is enough for our example.

Line 3: Theme and Page Builder

This is where the WordPress website cost often drifts upward. A theme controls the overall look of the site, and a page builder lets you design layouts by dragging blocks. Both come in free and paid versions.

The free Astra theme is enough for most brochure sites. Its maker lists paid upgrades on the Astra pricing page: the Astra Pro + AI plan costs $99 for the first year and renews at $149 a year. There's also a lifetime option at $279.

Elementor follows the same model. The core editor is free, and the Elementor pricing page says the Elementor Pro price starts from $60 a year for one website on the Essential plan. Pro adds features such as a theme builder and popups. The page also shows a separate renewal line, so check the renewal amount at checkout.

Decision tree: do you need Elementor Pro or Astra Pro for a WordPress site
Two questions decide whether paid theme or builder tools are worth it.

Does the Clinic Need Pro Versions?

For our example, no. Six pages, a contact form and a gallery are all possible with free Astra, the free block editor or free Elementor, and a free form plugin. Pro tools start paying for themselves when you need custom headers on different pages, popups, or you build many client sites and reuse templates.

One practical point for Pakistani buyers: these licenses are priced in US dollars and need an international card. Your bank may add its own conversion charges, so the rupee amount on your statement can differ from a simple calculation.

Line 4: Security, SSL and Backups

Patients will type their names and phone numbers into the appointment form, so the site needs HTTPS. You don't have to buy a certificate for this. Let's Encrypt issues trusted certificates for free to anyone who owns a domain, and most hosting control panels install them in one click.

Backups are the other non-negotiable item. The free UpdraftPlus plugin can save copies of your site to Google Drive or Dropbox on a schedule. Set it to back up weekly, and keep at least four copies.

Add a free security plugin, use a strong admin password, and turn on two-factor login. None of these steps adds a rupee to your WordPress website cost, but skipping them can cost a small business far more later.

The Clinic's Final Bill, Line by Line

Here is the full WordPress website cost for our example clinic. Dollar items are shown in dollars because the final rupee amount depends on the card and the exchange rate on the day.

Cost Item Lean Version Upgraded Version Recurring?
.pk domain (PKNIC, 2-year minimum) Rs. 4,200 Rs. 4,200 Every 2 years
Hosting (HosterPK WordPress I) Rs. 5,490 Rs. 5,490 Yearly
WordPress core Free Free No
Theme Astra (free) Astra Pro + AI, $99 Yearly ($149 renewal)
Page builder Block editor (free) Elementor Pro Essential, from $60 Yearly
SSL certificate Free (Let's Encrypt) Free (Let's Encrypt) Auto-renews
Backups UpdraftPlus (free) UpdraftPlus (free) No
Paid at the start Rs. 9,690 Rs. 9,690 + $159 -

In year two, the lean clinic pays only the hosting renewal of Rs. 5,490. In year three, the domain comes due again, so the bill returns to Rs. 9,690. Planning for that uneven pattern prevents the classic problem of a site going offline because nobody remembered the renewal date.

Payments arrive unevenly: the domain is due every second year.

What Changes If the Clinic Wants to Sell Online?

Suppose the clinic later wants to sell whitening kits and electric toothbrushes. Now we're talking about a WooCommerce store cost, which behaves differently from a simple WordPress website cost.

WooCommerce itself is a free download, and its official page says there are no monthly platform fees. The same page points to a marketplace of more than 1,000 extensions, and some of those are paid. Here's what usually changes:

  • Hosting: product photos and order data need more space. Moving from 1,000 MB to a 2,000 MB plan, such as HosterPK's WordPress II at Rs. 7,110 a year, is a sensible first step.
  • Payments: local card or wallet gateways often charge a fee per transaction. Read each provider's terms before you choose one.
  • Delivery: many Pakistani stores rely on cash on delivery at first, which WooCommerce supports without any paid add-on.
  • Time: a store takes far more setup and testing than a six-page site, because every product, shipping zone and email must be checked.

If e-commerce is your main goal, PSTA's E-Commerce course covers Shopify and marketplace selling alongside store basics.

Which Costs Can You Safely Skip?

Beginners often inflate their WordPress website cost by paying for things they don't need yet. Here are the purchases we'd tell a new site owner to postpone:

  • A paid SSL certificate. A free one gives the same padlock for a normal business site.
  • A premium theme bundle in week one. Build with the free version first. Upgrade only when you hit a specific limit.
  • A VPS or cloud server. Shared hosting handles a small business site comfortably.
  • Several overlapping plugins. Two page builders or three SEO plugins slow the site and cause conflicts.
  • Lifetime deals you haven't tested. Use the free version for a month before you commit $279 or more.

Costs you shouldn't skip are just as clear: the domain renewal, backups, and enough hosting to keep the site fast.

How Many Days Does a Clinic Site Need?

Cash is only half of the WordPress website cost. If you're the builder, your time is the other half. For a trained beginner, a six-page clinic site is a two-week project when you follow these steps:

  1. Days 1 and 2: collect the clinic's logo, photos, service list, timings and doctor profiles. Missing content is the most common cause of delays.
  2. Day 3: buy the domain and hosting, point the domain to the server and install WordPress.
  3. Days 4 to 8: install the theme, build the six pages and add the appointment form and WhatsApp button.
  4. Days 9 and 10: turn on SSL, set up backups and security, and compress every image.
  5. Days 11 and 12: test on three or four phones, fix spelling and check every form submission arrives.
  6. Days 13 and 14: add basic SEO titles, submit the site to Google Search Console and hand over login details.

If you're a freelancer quoting this job, those 14 days are what your fee pays for. Add the fixed costs on top as a separate line, so the client sees what they'll renew each year.

Frequently asked questions

Is WordPress really free to use in Pakistan?

Yes. The WordPress software is open source under GPLv2 or later, so you can download and use it without paying a license fee. Your costs come from what surrounds it: a domain name, hosting, and any premium themes or plugins you choose. A simple business site can run on free tools for years.

How much is a .pk domain in 2026?

PKNIC lists Rs. 2,100 per year for registrants in Pakistan, effective August 1, 2026. Because PKNIC bills in two-year periods, expect to pay at least Rs. 4,200 at the start. Resellers often charge more, so confirm whether a quoted price covers one year or two before you pay.

Can I host a business website on free hosting?

You can for practice, but it is a weak choice for a business. Free plans usually limit storage, speed and support, and some add their own ads or subdomains. For a real business site, paid shared hosting with SSL and backups is a safer and still affordable starting point.

Do I need Elementor Pro to build a professional site?

No. Many clean, professional sites are built with the free block editor or free Elementor and a free theme such as Astra. Pro becomes useful when you need popups, custom headers on different pages, or you build many client sites and want reusable templates.

How much should a freelancer charge for a WordPress website in Pakistan?

There is no fixed market rate, so we will not quote one. Estimate your hours from a clear page list, put a value on your time, then add the domain and hosting as separate lines. Quotes that separate labor from yearly renewals build more trust with small business clients.

Can a WooCommerce store run on the cheapest hosting plan?

You can start small, but stores grow quickly. Product photos, orders and extra plugins use more storage and server resources than a brochure site. Starting on a plan with more space, such as a 2,000 MB tier, can save you an early migration once sales begin.

How long does it take to learn WordPress well enough for client work?

Most beginners can build a simple site after a few weeks of steady practice. Building client sites with confidence, including security, speed and WooCommerce, takes longer. PSTA's WordPress course runs for 12 weeks and finishes with freelancing and portfolio building, so you practice on real projects.
