Here's a quick self-test on full stack developer salary in Pakistan: before you read any further, write down the monthly figure you think a working developer earns. Now compare it with one public number. Indeed's Pakistan salary page puts the average at Rs. 111,723 per month, based on about 1,200 reported salaries and last updated on 9 October 2026.

If your guess was far above or far below that, you're not alone. Students hear Rs. 40,000 from one senior and Rs. 3 lakh from a cousin who works remotely, and both can be true at the same time. This report puts the public data side by side and explains what actually moves a developer from one end of the range to the other.

In this report, you'll find:

  • What three salary websites say, and why their figures don't match
  • How pay differs between Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi
  • What the data shows about early-career versus mid-career pay
  • Which technologies employers pair with these jobs
  • A checklist for reading a job offer before you say yes

What Is the Average Full Stack Developer Salary in Pakistan?

No single official figure exists. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics doesn't publish pay for this job title, so the best public evidence comes from salary websites where employees and job ads report numbers. Three of them have a Pakistan page for this role, and each one uses a different method.

Source Headline figure Range shown Sample
Indeed Pakistan Rs. 111,723 per month (average base) Rs. 45,311 to Rs. 275,471 per month About 1,200 salaries, updated 9 Oct 2026
Glassdoor Rs. 106,000 per month (median total pay) Rs. 68,000 to Rs. 168,000 per month 50 salaries
PayScale Rs. 1,184,195 per year (average base), about Rs. 98,700 per month Median Rs. 1 million per year 66 profiles, updated 22 Jun 2026

Read together, the three sources put the typical full stack developer salary in a narrow band: roughly Rs. 99,000 to Rs. 112,000 a month for the middle of the market. That's a useful anchor. It isn't a promise, and it isn't what a beginner should expect on day one.

Why Don't the Salary Websites Agree?

The gap between sources is smaller than it looks once you know what each one measures.

  • Base pay or total pay. Indeed and PayScale headline base salary. Glassdoor's median is total pay, which adds bonuses and allowances on top of base.
  • Sample size. Indeed's 1,200 reports carry far more weight than Glassdoor's 50. A small sample can swing on a few unusual entries.
  • Who reports. Developers at large software houses may be more likely to post their pay than someone at a three-person agency. If so, that pulls averages upward.
  • Job ads vs. real offers. Some figures come from advertised ranges, and the final offer can sit lower or higher than the ad.

So treat the averages as a map of the market, not a quote. When you compare an offer against them, compare base with base. If a company quotes a package that includes fuel, medical cover or an annual bonus, ask for the base figure separately so your comparison stays fair. The same caution applies when you search for web developer salary in Pakistan under related job titles.

Full Stack Developer Salary by City

Indeed's national page breaks the full stack developer salary average down by location. Lahore leads at Rs. 133,598 a month. Islamabad follows at Rs. 110,844 and Karachi at Rs. 102,610. Two neighborhood listings also appear: Johar Town in Lahore at Rs. 115,364, and Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi at Rs. 107,978.

City averages from Indeed Pakistan against the national average.

Lahore's lead is clear in this data, but don't overread a difference of a few thousand rupees. Living costs, commute time and whether the job is remote matter just as much. A Rs. 100,000 remote role you can do from Abbottabad may leave you with more savings than a Rs. 130,000 role that needs a move to Lahore and a room on rent.

If you live outside the big three cities, most local web jobs come through small agencies and businesses. In our experience these often pay below the national averages, which is one reason many developers in smaller cities look for remote developer jobs instead.

How Does Pay Change With Experience?

PayScale is the only one of the three that splits Pakistan figures by years of experience, and its numbers come with a warning label: the samples are small.

Stage Experience Average total pay (PayScale) Per month (approx.) Profiles
Early career 1 to 4 years Rs. 1,186,755 per year Rs. 98,900 60
Mid career 5 to 9 years Rs. 2,441,676 per year Rs. 203,500 12

The pattern is clear even if the exact figures aren't precise. Full stack developer salary rises sharply between these two stages: mid-career developers on PayScale report about double the early-career average. Only 12 people sit behind the mid-career figure, so use it as a direction, not a target.

What changes in those five years isn't just time served. Developers who reach the upper range usually own whole features without supervision, review other people's code, talk to clients directly and can explain why a system is built the way it is. In interviews, that shows up as being able to walk through a real project and its trade-offs, which is why React interview questions often dig into decisions, not definitions.

Which Skills Show Up Next to the Pay Data?

PayScale lists the skills its full stack respondents report most often: JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, PHP, Angular, SQL, MySQL and general web development. It doesn't say how much each skill adds to pay, so be careful with any website that claims an exact rupee bonus for a framework.

Global data points the same way. In the Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2025, 66% of respondents said they did extensive work with JavaScript in the past year. Node.js was the most used web framework or technology at 48.7%, followed by React at 44.7%. On the database side, 55.6% reported PostgreSQL and 40.5% MySQL.

For a student in Pakistan, that suggests two sensible stacks to aim for:

  1. JavaScript all the way through: React on the front, Node.js and Express on the back, MongoDB or a SQL database for storage. This is the MERN route. MERN stack jobs suit product companies and remote teams.
  2. PHP for local clients: many small businesses we deal with around Abbottabad still ask for PHP and WordPress sites, so this skill keeps freelance and agency work coming in. Our PHP vs Node.js comparison covers that choice in detail.

Many working developers know one main stack well and the other well enough to fix things. That combination widens the pool of jobs you can apply for.

Local Salary or Remote Clients?

Remote work is part of why the top of the range sits so far above the middle. The State Bank figures reported by Business Recorder show Pakistan's IT exports reached $4.184 billion in the first 11 months of FY2025-26, up 20% from $3.475 billion a year earlier. Freelancers alone earned about $1.06 billion over the same July to May period, according to Profit, roughly a quarter of the total.

Those national figures don't tell you what one person will earn, and remote income is uneven. Here's the honest trade-off:

  • A local job gives you a fixed software house salary, a senior to learn from and code reviews that make you better faster. The pay ceiling is lower.
  • Remote clients or companies pay in dollars and can lift your income well above local averages. In return, you handle your own taxes, payment withdrawals, slow months and client communication.

A common path is one to two years in a software house first, then remote work once you can deliver without hand-holding. If you go freelance, our guide to Upwork for beginners in Pakistan walks through the account side.

What Can a Fresh Graduate Realistically Expect?

Indeed's lowest reported figure for the role is Rs. 45,311 a month. Internships and first jobs at small firms tend to sit near that end, and sometimes below it. Public salary pages don't separate interns from juniors, so nobody can quote a precise junior developer salary with confidence.

What we can say from teaching students every week is this: the first offer depends far more on what you can show than on your certificate. A junior with two deployed projects, a clean GitHub profile and the ability to explain their code usually gets better offers than someone with a long list of courses and nothing live. If you're still choosing what to learn, the frontend developer roadmap for Pakistan is a good place to start before you add backend skills.

How to Read a Job Offer Before You Accept

An offer letter tells you more than the salary line. Check these points before you sign:

  1. Confirm whether the figure is gross or take-home, and how much tax will be withheld.
  2. Ask how long the probation period lasts and whether pay changes when it ends.
  3. Check if there's a training bond or a penalty for leaving early.
  4. Ask about the review cycle: how often raises are discussed, and on what basis.
  5. Find out who will review your code and whether a senior developer sits on your team.
  6. Get the working hours and remote-work policy in writing.

Settle these six points before you accept an offer.

A slightly lower salary at a company with real mentoring can be worth more over two years than a higher salary where you're the only developer and nobody checks your work.

Mistakes That Keep Developers in the Lower Range

  • Collecting tutorials instead of shipping. Ten half-finished clones don't impress anyone. Two finished, deployed apps do.
  • Staying frontend-only for too long. If you call yourself full stack, you need to show an API, authentication and a database you designed.
  • Ignoring Git. Teams expect branches, pull requests and readable commit messages. Learn the handful of commands you'll use every day before your first interview.
  • Comparing with the top number. The highest figure on a salary site belongs to someone with years of experience, not a fresher.
  • Not asking for a review. Many developers stay underpaid because they never bring up pay after their first year.

Building a Hireable Portfolio at PSTA

Salary data rewards people who can build and ship complete applications, and that's how we've set up our full-stack web development program. It runs for 6 months, starts at beginner level, and covers HTML5 and CSS3, modern JavaScript, React with Hooks and Redux Toolkit, Node.js and Express APIs, MongoDB and MySQL, PHP and WordPress, AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, and a freelancing module for Upwork and Fiverr.

You finish with a capstone MERN application deployed live. It costs Rs. 45,000 instead of the usual Rs. 60,000, split into two payments. You can study at our Abbottabad campus in Mandian, opposite FIMS College, take the live online batch from home, or combine the two.

If you'd like to strengthen one side first, our JavaScript course goes deeper on the language that runs both the frontend and Node.js backends. Every other program is listed on our courses page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a fresher full stack developer earn in Pakistan?

Public salary sites do not separate freshers from juniors, so there is no reliable single figure. Indeed lists Rs. 45,311 a month as the low end of its range, and first jobs at small firms usually sit near that point. Two deployed projects and a clean GitHub profile tend to lift your first offer more than extra certificates.

Which city pays full stack developers the most in Pakistan?

On Indeed Pakistan, Lahore has the highest city average at Rs. 133,598 a month, followed by Islamabad at Rs. 110,844 and Karachi at Rs. 102,610. The differences are moderate, so compare living costs, commute and remote options before deciding that a move is worth it.

Is MERN or PHP better for getting a job in Pakistan?

Both lead to work. MERN suits product companies and remote roles, and JavaScript, Node.js and React appear most often next to full stack pay data. PHP with WordPress keeps local client and agency work coming. Many developers learn one stack deeply and the other well enough to maintain existing projects.

Why do Indeed, Glassdoor and PayScale show different salaries?

They measure different things. Indeed and PayScale headline base salary, while Glassdoor reports median total pay including bonuses. Sample sizes differ too: Indeed has about 1,200 reports, Glassdoor 50 and PayScale 66. Treat each figure as a rough guide and compare base pay with base pay.

Can a full stack developer in Pakistan earn in dollars?

Yes. Many developers work for foreign clients or remote companies. State Bank data reported by Profit shows Pakistani freelancers earned about $1.06 billion in the first 11 months of FY2025-26. Remote income is uneven, though, and you handle your own taxes, withdrawals and client communication.

How long does it take to become a job-ready full stack developer?

It depends on your starting point and practice time. A structured course such as PSTA's 6-month full-stack program covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, databases and a deployed capstone. Most learners then need extra months of building projects before they interview confidently.

Do I need a computer science degree to work as a full stack developer?

A degree helps with some employers, especially larger software houses, but many hiring managers focus on what you can build. A portfolio of finished, deployed applications, sensible Git history and the ability to explain your code often matter more in interviews than the name of your degree.
